2014 Cadillac CTS sedan model is tiring less obscure than former mules that is spotted recently. The high-end V variant has been guaranteed to arrive in 12 to 18 months after the release of regular sedan.
It is expected that Cadillac would continue to offer its coupe offshoot though nothing is confirmed yet, since the decision impends for last quarter of the year. But it is heard that wagon is killed for CTS third generation.
Cadillac CTS is the bestselling car for years. After the dismissal of STS and DTS, its Cadillac’s only car in its lineup until XTS and ATS has joined. As it is a third generation variant, it has to be upgraded to pile up the sales by increasing the consideration of brand among the luxury buyers.
Under The Hood
The 2014 CTS will be powered by V6 engine in two flavours. The present CTS is standardised by 3.0L V6 engine that will carry over in automatic.
It generates 265 horsepower for base model. However, 318 horsepower is generated by 3.6L V6 along with some modifications and will be provided manual or automatic transmission system. The ATS’s 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is also available in CTS models generating more than 280 horsepower and will be available in both manual and automatic transmission systems. AWD will be the next list in order sheet. But it is limited to naturally aspirated versions with automatic transmission system.
The CTS is targeted by small and mid-size variants of other luxury brands. However, 2014 CTS model will be three inches longer than previous models. It will be directly competing mid-size luxury models from Japan and Europe. The next generation CTS will be using GM’s rear wheel platform.
The CTS’s shape is sharpened and toned down to provide some similar resemblance with ATS but CTS will not be soft-looking. The new CTS may strike showrooms later year as 2014 model and its base price may be $40,000.
